MEP Geadis Geadi requests ban on Turkish access to European Parliament

Cypriot MEP Geadis Geadi (ELAM - ECR) has sent a formal letter to the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, requesting that Turkish individuals be banned from accessing European Parliament premises. Geadi argues that such measures would be consistent with existing restrictions imposed on Russian and Belarusian representatives since March 2022, as well as those applied to Iranians regarding 2026 events. The MEP cites the ongoing fifty-year occupation of parts of the Republic of Cyprus by Turkey as the primary justification for his request. He claims that the European Union's credibility is undermined by maintaining different standards for various states that violate international law. Geadi asserts that failing to act against Turkey while penalizing other nations constitutes a double standard. He has expressed readiness to gather signatures from fellow MEPs to support the initiative if necessary. The request remains under consideration by the Parliament leadership.
