Recent drone activity impacts near nuclear power facilities in Ukraine

Russian-installed management at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant reported that two employees were injured by a drone strike while traveling in a vehicle 100 meters from the site's perimeter. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has noted a significant increase in drone activity near Ukrainian nuclear facilities throughout the week. Specifically, more than 160 drones were recorded flying near the Chornobyl and Rivne nuclear power plants between May 13 and May 14. Despite these incidents, IAEA monitoring teams have reported no direct impact on nuclear safety at these locations. The agency continues to monitor the situation closely as regional tensions persist. These reports of drone strikes and heightened aerial activity highlight ongoing concerns regarding the security of nuclear infrastructure in conflict zones.
