Limassol to host 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe qualifier
The city of Limassol, Cyprus, is set to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Sub-Regional Qualifier A from May 16 to 23, 2026. The tournament will feature ten national teams, including Cyprus, Jersey, Guernsey, Malta, Sweden, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Croatia, and France. Matches are scheduled to take place at the Happy Valley Cricket Grounds in Episkopi, with the final occurring on May 23. This event serves as a qualification stage for the 2027 Regional Finals, moving toward the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Over 200 athletes, coaches, and officials are expected to participate. Cyprus Cricket Federation President Muhammad Husain noted that the national team has climbed to 55th in global rankings, a 29-place increase over the past year. Furthermore, the federation has introduced the sport to approximately 16,000 primary school pupils through outreach programs. Local officials stated that matches will be broadcast live online to improve international visibility.
