International Museum Day events held across Cyprus

Cyprus is celebrating International Museum Day with a series of events spanning throughout May 2026, with a peak during the weekend of May 16-17. The 2026 theme centers on museums uniting a divided world, aiming to highlight their role in community engagement and accessibility. Participating institutions include the Local Archaeological Museum of Palaepaphos, the Byzantine Museum (Makarios III Foundation), and the Municipal Museum THALASSA in Ayia Napa. Programs include guided tours, interactive workshops for children, concerts like 'The Piano Tour', and art exhibitions such as 'Fluid Persistence' at NiMAC. Activities specifically address accessibility, including sign language interpretation and inclusive programming for disabled individuals. Admission to many events, such as those in Palaepaphos, is free of charge. Organizers include the Department of Antiquities, the Cyprus National Committee of UNESCO, and ICOM, among other municipal and private institutions.
