Palestinian teenager killed by Israeli forces near Nablus
On Friday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported the death of 15-year-old Fahd Zidane Oweis in the village of Luban al-Sharqiya, located in the Nablus district of the West Bank. The Palestinian authorities stated that the teenager was shot dead by Israeli forces during the early morning hours and that his body has not been returned. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that during a counter-terrorism operation, soldiers encountered individuals throwing stones at passing vehicles, which they characterized as a threat to human life. According to the Israeli military, soldiers fired at the suspects and neutralized one of them, whom they identified as a masked terrorist. This incident follows a similar event on Wednesday where another 16-year-old from the same village was killed during stone-throwing incidents. Since the start of the conflict in Gaza in October 2023, reports indicate that at least 1,072 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli troops or settlers. Official Israeli data shows 46 Israelis have died in attacks or military operations during the same timeframe. Additionally, UNICEF reported that 70 Palestinian children were killed in the West Bank between January 2025 and the time of the report.
