Cyprus government clarifies cooperation stance regarding parliamentary elections
On Friday, Cyprus government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis announced that the administration will maintain communication channels with all political parties elected to the new House of Representatives. Addressing journalists at the Presidential Palace, Letymbiotis denied reports that President Nikos Christodoulides expressed concern regarding the future composition of the National Council following the upcoming parliamentary elections. He emphasized that the government respects the public's verdict and the democratic process. The spokesperson highlighted the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative branches, noting that such cooperation enabled significant reforms, including a tax reform effective from January 1, 2026, benefiting 200,000 citizens. In response to allegations by Fidias concerning presidential interference in the election process, the government maintained that the voters are the ultimate judges. The government asserted that there are no deadlocks in a democracy and that the election results will be respected regardless of the outcome.
