Montenegrin President to visit Cyprus for EU accession talks

The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, is scheduled to visit Cyprus next Monday to hold official talks with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. The primary focus of the meeting will be Montenegro's European Union accession path. Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis confirmed that the visit reinforces bilateral relations between the two nations. This meeting follows the recent establishment of a specialized working group tasked with the technical preparation of Montenegro's Accession Treaty, which held its inaugural session in Brussels. The Cypriot government highlighted that the creation of this group represents a significant political milestone for the current Cypriot Presidency regarding EU enlargement. President Milatović previously visited Cyprus in June 2024. The visit is part of a series of ongoing diplomatic contacts aimed at supporting the integration process of the Western Balkans.
