Cypriot sailors compete at the iQFOiL European Championship in Portugal

Cypriot athletes Natasa Lappa and Iakovos Christofidis are participating in the iQFOiL European Championship held in Portimao, Portugal. The competition is hosted by the Clube Naval de Portimão and features approximately 200 athletes from over 40 countries. Races are scheduled to take place from Monday, May 18, to Friday, May 22. Natasa Lappa currently holds the 36th position in the world rankings. Her most recent international performance was an 18th-place finish at the Grand Slam in Hyères, France, marking her career-best result in a World Cup or Grand Slam event. This follows her 20th-place finish at the previous European Championship in Italy last November, which remains the best result for a Cypriot athlete in the history of that competition. Lappa receives support from various organizations, including the Cyprus Olympic Committee, the Cyprus Sports Organization, and the Limassol Nautical Club.
