Major roster overhaul planned for AEL Limassol ahead of the new season
AEL Limassol has announced a significant restructuring of its team, with coach Hugo Martins remaining at the helm to rebuild the squad. The club has agreed to terms with 28-year-old attacking midfielder Giorgos Papageorgiou, who previously worked with Martins at Ethnikos Achnas. Additionally, Jair Tavares and Diogo Gomes are expected to join the team, while the club is pursuing other players familiar with the Cypriot league. A large number of players, including Ochoa, Forestieri, Zrady, Papafotis, Bogdan, Glavcic, Philiotis, Frantzis, Stefanovic, and Imanishimwe, will not return for the upcoming season. Furthermore, the loan spells for Maseko and Savo have concluded, and the club plans to make over ten new signings to address gaps in all positions. Technical director Joel Damahou is collaborating with the coaching staff to focus on younger, motivated players following a disappointing previous campaign. The management aims to return the team to a competitive level by changing their recruitment philosophy.
