Izz al-Din al-Haddad reported killed in Israeli airstrike in Gaza

On May 16, 2026, the Israeli military and Shin Bet announced the killing of Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the military commander of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The strike occurred on Friday in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City. While initial reports were unconfirmed, Hamas officials later confirmed his death, which was also announced via loudspeakers in local mosques.
