Zakaria Sawo to leave Djurgardens IF amid transfer negotiations with Qarabag

Swedish striker Zakaria Sawo is expected to leave Djurgardens IF following his loan spell at AEL Limassol. Reports indicate that the 26-year-old player is in advanced negotiations with the Azerbaijani club Qarabag. Sawo, who joined Djurgardens from Aris, struggled to establish himself in Sweden, recording only one goal in 18 appearances. During his loan to AEL in Cyprus starting in late December, he performed significantly better, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in over four months. While AEL has expressed interest in signing the striker on a permanent basis, they face strong competition from Qarabag, which has already submitted an official bid. The transfer is expected to be finalized within the coming week, pending unforeseen circumstances. It is noted that Qarabag participated in the Champions League qualification rounds this season.
