Andreas Charalambous resigns as parliamentary assistant to Irene Charalambidou

Andreas Charalambous has officially announced his resignation from the position of parliamentary assistant to AKEL MP Irene Charalambidou. The professional relationship lasted for three months before being terminated by Charalambous. In a public social media statement, Charalambous expressed personal appreciation for Charalambidou, describing her as professional and supportive during his tenure. However, he cited ideological disagreements as the primary reason for his departure. Specifically, he highlighted concerns regarding the political movement ALMA, suggesting that its ideological direction, influenced by statements from Odysseas Michaelides, has become inconsistent. Charalambous stated that he previously believed he could maintain his role independently of the cooperation between Charalambidou and the ALMA movement. Ultimately, he concluded that he could no longer reconcile his own views with the current political trajectory of the collaboration.
