Police investigation following shooting incident in Nicosia

At approximately 4:15 a.m. today, a Nicosia police patrol observed a motorcycle moving suspiciously and stopping in front of a building. When a police officer approached the motorcyclist for a routine check, the suspect brandished a handgun and pointed it at the officer. As the officer sought cover to call for reinforcements, the suspect fired shots at the building before fleeing the scene. Additional police units were dispatched to the area, but the perpetrator remains at large. On-site investigations revealed that the gunfire caused damage to the glass storefront of an office building. The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) has launched a formal investigation into the case. While some sources identify the target as an insurance company, official reports maintain it was an office building.
