56-year-old man arrested for facilitating illegal entry of third-country nationals

Police in the Nicosia district arrested a 56-year-old man on charges of facilitating the illegal entry and residence of third-country nationals. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. when MMAD patrol units spotted a vehicle crossing from the buffer zone into government-controlled areas. The driver refused to stop for a police inspection, leading to a pursuit that ended in Alampra after the suspect struck a police vehicle. Inside the car, authorities discovered four passengers: two women aged 32 and 29, and two minors aged 10 and 16. The suspect reportedly admitted to transporting the individuals from the occupied areas to the Republic of Cyprus. The Pera Chorio Police Station is investigating the case. The 56-year-old was remanded in custody for six days by the Nicosia District Court, while the four passengers were transferred to the Kokkinotrimithia hospitality center.
