General returning officer provides updates for the 2026 parliamentary elections

The General Returning Officer of Cyprus has announced a dedicated information service for the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 24, 2026. Citizens can call the national hotline 77 77 22 12, or specific district numbers for Nicosia, Limassol, Famagusta, Larnaca, and Paphos, as well as the Ministry of Interior. The service is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Costs for the national number are 0.081 euros per minute from landlines and 0.1050 euros per minute from mobile phones. Callers can verify their polling station using their ID number, request a replacement election booklet, or clarify voting procedures. Regarding the voting method, electors must use 'X', '+', or '√' to mark their choice. Any other symbol or mark identifying the voter will result in an invalid ballot. Voters must mark the designated square under a party column or next to an independent candidate. Selecting candidates from different parties is prohibited and renders the ballot invalid. Preferences for candidates within a chosen party list may be indicated by preference crosses, but exceeding the allowed limit for the specific district will void only the crosses, not the entire ballot.
