Brush fire contained in Mosfiloti, Larnaca district

A fire broke out in the Vyzakeri area of Mosfiloti in the Larnaca district on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The incident began at 1:51 p.m. and affected low wild vegetation. According to the Department of Forests, which operates under the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, the blaze was brought under full control at 2:15 p.m. The firefighting operation lasted approximately 24 minutes. Ten personnel from the Forestry Department utilized two fire engines to combat the flames. They were supported by six members of the Mosfiloti forest firefighting team, who contributed one fire engine and one excavator. No casualties or structural damage were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by authorities.
