Linou Gavriel wins basketball championship in Egypt with Al Ahly

Cypriot basketball coach Linos Gavriel led the Al Ahly team to win the Egyptian championship title on May 16, 2026. The team secured the title after defeating Al Ittihad Alexandria with a score of 77-76, finalizing the series at 3-1. During the final series, the team successfully broke their opponent's home advantage twice. This victory marks the fourth country where Gavriel has achieved a championship title, following previous successes in Cyprus, Tunisia, and Bahrain. In addition to the league title, Gavriel has won the Super Cup and the Morthabet Cup with Al Ahly. Furthermore, he has led the team to qualify for the final phase of the Basketball Africa League.
