Cuba releases civil defense guide amidst tensions with the United States

The Cuban civil defense agency has published a new family guide titled 'Protect, Resist, Survive and Win' to prepare citizens for potential military aggression. The document provides practical instructions, including the preparation of emergency backpacks containing water, food, medicine, and hygiene products, as well as advice on responding to air raid alerts. This publication follows months of strained relations between Havana and Washington, with the U.S. having imposed an energy embargo while labeling Cuba a threat to its national security. Amid these tensions, CIA Director John Ratcliffe visited Havana on Thursday for emergency meetings with high-ranking Cuban officials. The document was announced on Friday through the Havana province's citizen portal and subsequently posted on the website of the Sancti Spiritus provincial radio station. Both nations have been engaged in difficult diplomatic discussions for several months. The guide serves as an official preparation manual for the general population regarding national security risks.
