Cyprus Chief Returning Officer issues voting guidelines for parliamentary elections
The Chief Returning Officer of Cyprus has issued official guidelines for the upcoming parliamentary elections. Voters are permitted to mark their ballots exclusively using an 'X', a '+', or a '√' symbol. Any other markings that could potentially identify the voter will render the ballot paper invalid. In addition to selecting a political party or coalition, voters may indicate preferences for individual candidates using preference crosses. The number of allowed preference crosses is determined by the electoral district. Voters in Nicosia may select up to five candidates, those in Limassol and Famagusta up to three, those in Larnaca and Paphos up to two, and those in Kyrenia one. These regulations were officially communicated on May 16, 2026.
